This article describes the various connecting plug types and sizes used by many of the popular lighting vendors on the market. We frequently get questions from customers asking if our products will work with products from other vendors. If you have lighting products from a vendor not listed here, or if you find that a specific company is using plugs different from those described here, please
let us know.
The Brickstuff lighting system uses one primary plug. We refer to this as a "Pico" size plug, and over the years this same size of plug has been adapted by most lighting vendors around the world. It is still the most common plug you are likely to find if you have lighting products made by another company. The plugs have a pitch (spacing between pins) of 0.8mm, and they look like this:
Here is a list of lighting companies (listed in alphabetical order) that use the Brickstuff Pico plug standard:
- Bevins Bricks
- Blinky Bricks (FX Lights)
- Briksmax (System version 1.0)
- Game of Bricks
- LeLightGo
- Lightailing
- Light My Bricks (System version 1.0)
- Pimoroni Tiny FX
If you have hobby lighting products from these companies with plugs that look like the Brickstuff Pico plugs in the photo above, your parts will almost certainly work with Brickstuff products, and vice versa. No additional adapters or converters are needed.
USB Connecting Plugs
Many Chinese lighting product vendors use USB connectors for their lights and light kits. The plugs for these components look like this:

adapter boards that
allow you to use these other products with the Brickstuff ecosystem of products (and vice versa).
1.25mm Plugs
Some other companies have adopted a plug standard with 1.25mm pitch (spacing between plugs). These connectors look like this:

If you have lighting products from these companies, we sell
adapter boards and
conversion cables that allow you to use these other products with the Brickstuff ecosystem of products (and vice versa).
Flat Flex Connectors
In 2024, Light My Bricks released their System version 2.0 system with an entirely new system of flat, flexible connectors. Light My Bricks sells conversion adapters that allow our Pico connectors to work with their system, so if you have any Version 2.0 components from Light My Bricks, you can purchase the conversion adapters from them. This will allow you to use Brickstuff components with their new system (and vice versa).
We plan on making our own line of conversion adapters for these connectors in 2025.
FUNWHOLE and BriksMax 2.0 Connectors
In 2024, BriksMax released their System version 2.0 connectors. These are the same connectors used in kits sold by FUNWHOLE. Like our Pico connecting plugs, these plugs have a pitch of 0.8mm, but they are slightly thicker and they are able to be inserted facing up or down without regard to polarity.
Although FUNWHOLE and BriksMax claim these connectors are not compatible with their previous versions (which were the same as our Pico connectors), they can in fact be used together without the need for any converting adapter. By this we mean you can insert a Brickstuff Pico connector into a FUNWHOLE/BriksMax 2.0 adapter board connector without the need for an adapter. The plug will fit either way into the socket, and although it will be slightly loose, it will make a good electrical connection.
Note that you cannot insert a FUNWHOLE or BriksMax connecting plug into a Brickstuff Pico connector-- the plugs are too thick. To use FUNWHOLE or BriksMax lights with Brickstuff system components, you'll need one of our
Pico connecting cables to bridge from your Brickstuff components to a FUNWHOLE or BriksMax adapter board/hub. From there, your components will be interoperable.
Anything We Missed?
This guide was meant to address the most common systems in the market, and the types of plugs you are likely to find in lighting products you may already own. At Brickstuff, it is our goal to make components from all systems and all vendors compatible, so if you see an error with any of the information above, or if you've spotted a size or type of plug used by another company that we didn't cover, please
send us an e-mail and let us know!
